Amelia Park Children’s Museum

The museum was founded in 1994 by a dedicated group of teachers and parents. Originally called Discover Westfield Children’s Museum, we first opened our doors on June 1, 1997 at 99 Elm Street, Westfield, MA. In 2008, the museum changed its name to Amelia Park Children’s Museum and moved to its current location at 29 South Broad Street in Westfield, MA. ‍APCM provides an enriching environment where children and their families can learn about themselves, their communities, and the world around them. Integrated throughout the museum is a broad range of creative exhibits and imaginative hands-on activities, which foster a climate of learning and exploration. Central to the museum’s philosophy is that children can learn through the arts, history, science, and the region’s rich environmental and cultural diversity. Their mission is to Inspire, educate, and empower the next generation of young learners.

They encourage and inspire children’s imaginations while helping them learn about the world around them – and beyond. Children of all ages can build, pretend they are a doctor or nurse, become a teller in the bank exhibit, find dinosaur bones, and have fun while moving and exercising or simply join us for one of their special activities. Amelia Park Children’s Museum is designed with kids in mind. Kids will learn about body party, create art and craft, play dress up, There is also a playground with slide at the museum. The philanthropic couple, Albert (1919-2011) and Amelia Ferst (1920-1997), have left a lasting legacy in Westfield. Next to Westfield Middle School, on the south side of downtown you’ll find Amelia Park, which has a memorial garden, an NHL-size rink and the Amelia Park Children’s Museum. Albert Ferst put $1m towards the new, 12,000-square-foot building for this attraction, which was completed in 2008.
